Driving a car, taking a shower, watching sports, walking the dog ~ you thought at the right time, I will be there. At the right time I will put aside my day and show up. At the right time I will find a parking place. I'll pack my water and snacks and be ready. Don't want to go alone? Call your friends today. Gather your group and tell them, The day you've been waiting for is April 5th and I want to stand with you.
Don't be sidetracked to ask yourself why April 5th. Don't be sidetracked thinking oh I'm gonna wait till something really bad happens, don't get sidetracked thinking, there's a game that day and I have tickets, oh no, it's bobby's birthday. I'll go another day there will be more protests.
Sunday shows on April 6 are going to report how many millions of people resisted the decimation of democracy. Even though you may feel like you're just one person, the fact is you are your one person. When the books are written, when the films aired, I want you to be proud that you got there. You didn't miss it. You were counted. You're committed.
Be it large or small, be it the moment the tide changes, this is roll call for all the people who want to stop the decimation of democracy. Our task looks staggering. Fact is, it is page one of the resistance. I keep asking, what are you ready & willing to. Now the answer is here.
A small word about money ~ sure big money, campaign money, is necessary but resistance is about non-cooperation. It is about numbers and unity of the people. What made our country is sacrifice and resistance. Wealthy activists are rare and essential, however, oceans of people beckoning moral leaders is what galvanized human rights.
The ultimate question is one person, one vote. What will you do to preserve one person one vote? When it is one person, one vote we've done pretty well. When it's one person buying a million votes, it is a rotten toxic sewer of puny minds and puny hearts.
